Gut Aiderbichl has made a name for itself well over the boundaries of the province of Salzburg. It’s no wonder, that the stories of the poor animals and their fates and how they now live happily in the animal sanctuary, stir up feelings of sympathy and motivate people to treat animals with respect and as equal beings. This brings out the deepest feelings of justice and fairness in people.
Beneficial encounters between humans and animals work wonders. Visitors to the sanctuary, newspapers, their readers and those watching TV take part in helping and become aware of the grievances around them. Michael Aufhauser, who started the sanctuary, not only campaigns for animals, but also for people, who are in need of help and who seem to have been forgotten by the world. Above all it is the hospice movement which has profited from the support of Gut Aiderbichl. Projects for helping children, adults searching for values in life and fringe groups have helped numerous people to find a meaningful direction in life. Now, after only four years – so much has been achieved.
But Gut Aiderbichl grows and grows - in the hearts of the people , who have been moved by the stories. If Gut Aiderbichl has made humanity fashionable, then it has more than payed off. It has become a symbol. Gut Aiderbichl is mainly self-supporting, using entrance fees, merchandising and tourism. Thousands of godparents and sponsers support Gut Aiderbichl with the „Gut Aiderbichl Card“, or as members of animal rights groups, or by adopting a specific animal, and many as supporters of the Gut Aiderbichl Trust.
