Lochen am Mattsee Print

The resort with the high church spire lies embedded in peaceful, cultivated countryside at the foot of the Tannberg. The undulating hills, the mirror-smooth lake surface, the woods and the colourful meadows all make for a relaxing holiday to unwind far from the madding crowd.

There are a variety of inviting paths and tracks for the cycling, walking and jogging enthusiasts.  Culturewise, the church is of interest with its high altar created by Meinrad Guggenbichler,  along with its affiliated chapels in  Astätt and in the small hamlet of Gebertsham, which has a famous medieval winged altar, a work of art by Godrian Guckh, - all perfect examples of  both baroque and gothic arts.

A local dairy museum is located in neighbouring Kerschham, showing how cheese was made in days gone by, with a selection of the old utensils used. Lochen lies near the lake Mattsee. Here it is possible to sail, swim or just explore the unspoiled natural environment of the northern lakeside banks. A small camping site is also integrated into the natural surroundings.

Tannberg Cultural Workshop

Recently a workshop has been created, - a cooperation between farmers and local art lovers, in an attempt to bring traditional and present-day culture to the region. Courses and seminars are held in various arts and also in health themes.

They are accompanied by current exhibitions, concerts and plays.
