Schleedorf is a typical Salzburg village. The locals have declared the resort a show village and invite guests from home and abroad to partake in their lives, in order to discover what village life is all about. Schleedorf was elected „Rural village 2000“ and created as model for the project, „Agenda 21“.
An amazing show!
The show village Schleedorf with:
° „AgriCultur“ agricultural museum
° Salzburg’s World of Cheese with organic dairy
° national costume tailor with show of dolls
° playground
° parish church with crucifix made by Meinrad Guggenbichler
In the Salzburg World of Cheese visitors are invited to take a tour around the organic dairy to see how prize-winning cheeses are made from silage-free milk. Exports go out all over Europe. It is also possible to have a go at making your own cheese!
During the 3rd. weekend in September an autumnal village festival is held, just the thing for lovers of traditional country cooking.
Tiefsteinklamm and Tannberg
Schleedorf has many natural highlights to explore. One of the gems of the area is the Tiefsteinklamm. This is a romantic gorge, ideal for walking or jogging. The Arno pilgrimage trail runs over the Tannberg with its panoramic views across the Salzburg Lake District to the Alps – well worth a walk to get aquainted with the region.
