The rural district of Berndorf lies at the foot of the Haunsberg hill in Flachgau, the northern part of the province of Salzburg and covers an area of 14,46 km2.
Berndorf is situated in gentle countryside amongst many farmsteads and hamlets . The village itself lies at a height of 548 m – but the highest point in the district is „Linde am Thurn“ ( a lime tree) at a height of 687 m near a farm called Kalchgrubergut. It is a protected national monument.
The Berndorf „Wiegeliege“ ( a special type of sunbed ) can also be found here, from where there is a wonderful view across the village to the upper Austrian Innviertal area and also to the south into the Alps.
