Mattsee

The Mattsee lake has an area of 3,6 sq.km.

A boat service sails regularly between the Mattsee and the Obertrumersee. It is called „Seenland“ and to enable the boat to sail under the connecting Johannis bridge, it has to lower its  roof hydraulically – quite an experience!

Surfing and sailing are allowed on the Mattsee, and it is also possible to hire electric and paddle boats, but motorboats are prohibited on all the lakes, due to the strict regulations laid down by the National Trust.

There are lakeside beaches directly in Mattsee and also in Gebertsham on the north bank.

The Mattsee is considered one of the warmest lakes in all of the province of Salzburg,   the water quality is crystal clear.
