Naturepark Buchberg

From the summit plateau of the Buchberg there is a magnificent view across the softly undulating pre-alpine hills and the limestone alps – taking in 120 mountain peaks, from Traunstein to the Wilden Kaiser.

Gentle Natural Life
The Buchberg National Park represents a gentle natural lifestyle, regeneration and a healthy way of life. Be it wandering across flower-covered meadows, sunbathing, walking in autumnal mist or snow-shoe walks in a glistening winter forest, the undulating countryside is an excellent environment for the whole family.
There is a playground situated near the look-out tower just under the summit, where young or old can be entertained. Special theme walks lead to ancient graves and a bolder park - which tell stories, sagas and myths. They also give information about flora and fauna in the beech forests and are evidence of times gone by. There is a public wooden sunbed for guests to rest on next to a tiny chapel above Gasthof Alpenblick with a magnificent panoramic view over the Alps. (information board with a description of the mountains)
A small folder showing theme paths and parking areas is available in the tourist office in Mattsee or can be found on the Seenland homepage.
