Starting point is the parking area, Mattsee-Nord, on the by-pass road. The cycling track leads directly into the centre of Mattsee with early medieval collegiate church and monastery, and the Creative Garden Centre in the Bavarian farmstead.
The route continues to Obertrum am See, where regional, traditional herbs have been cultivated in the Trumer Herbal Garden.
On the way to the next village, Seeham, it’s worth taking a look at the farmers’ herb garden in the Schmiedbauernhof, previously a farm and now the local council offices.
Having cycled up the Haunsberg with fabulous views over the three lakes and through the village of Berndorf, there is a small parking area and traffic-island set out with herbal plants and another magnificent view over the valley Oichtental and the Michaelbeuern monastery.
In the Feichten area is a “herbal island” cultivated by a local farmer exhibiting herbs for cooking.
Having cycled over fields and meadows, through the villages of Perwang, Palting and Mundenham, the trail reaches the banks of the picturesque lake Mattsee, then via Reitsham and Schalken back to the village of Mattsee.
