Advent at the lake

A celebration of the run-up to Christmas from 28 November to 20 December 2026 – every weekend during Advent

Enjoy the pre-Christmas atmosphere on the market square, in the Weyer Bay, in the inns and along the lakeside promenade. Because there is so much to discover and marvel at in Mattsee, even in winter. Christmas music and the scent of mulled wine and homemade goods fill the air!

Advent market by the lake

The Advent market by the lake is organised by Erlebniswelten fahr(T)raum Mattsee with the support of the clubs, the Stiftskeller, the tourism association and the municipality.

Official opening ceremony with a welcome address and musical entertainment provided by the traditional folk band

„Children's and Family Advent“ in fahr(T)raum:
 A varied programme of entertainment featuring music, face painting for children, races on the Carrera tracks and much more.

„Hostel Search & Charity Event“:
Accommodation available from 3.30 pm & Charity Event 5 with musical accompaniment by the Mattsee traditional band.

"Mattseer Advent lights" | Traditional lantern trail
The candle lights of 40 lanterns with artistic silhouettes lead from the Weyerbucht, Schlossbergweg, Bajuwarengehöft to the Advent market by the lake. Enjoy the idyllic Lantern path, in the pre-Christmas period until after New Year's Eve. 

The wish fulfilment tree
One tree has a very special role again this year: the "Wish fulfilment tree" at the market place in front of the Café Neuhofer. On it hang the wishes collected by the Flachgauer Tafel. Each wish on this tree represents the hope of a special Christmas present for people in our region who are less fortunate. This heart-warming campaign is organised by the polytechnic school Mattsee, which makes it possible for many wishes to come true. And this is how it works: To the description

CHRISTMAS MARKET & MUSEUM – An unforgettable group experience

Spend around four enchanting hours in a pre-Christmas atmosphere: your visit begins with a tour of the themed exhibits at fahr(T)raum, where you’ll be immersed in the world of motoring and historic vehicles. Afterwards, a warming glass of mulled wine, mulled cider or non-alcoholic punch awaits you at the festively decorated stand – the perfect start to a relaxing Advent afternoon.
Afterwards, you’ll stroll together through the idyllic Advent market Mattsee. Amidst lovingly decorated stalls, handmade gifts and regional delicacies, you’ll enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, far away from the hustle and bustle.
Price per person: EUR 17.50

Sample programme for 10–50 people

  • Experience visit to fahr(T)raum (admission & free tour of the exhibition)
  • Advent market Mattsee, including a hot drink (1 mulled wine/1 mulled cider/non-alcoholic punch) at the fahr(T)raum stall.

  • Lunch at the Stiftskeller Mattsee (*)
  • Advent concert on 5 December 2026 at 1.30 pm (*)

The programme is designed to last around four hours.
The price includes admission to the fahr(T)raum and a hot drink at the fahrt(T)raum stand at the Adventmarkt am See in Mattsee.
(*) Not included in the package price; can be booked as an optional extra
