Art is
My life
ATELIER MAG. ARCH. JOHANN WEYRINGER, Sighartsteinerstraße 24, 5202 Neumarkt am Wallersee

The Neumarkt artist Johann Weyringer, born in Sighartstein, completed a carpentry apprenticeship at a young age. "A young person knows what is good for them," says Hans Weyringer in his studio, where numerous paintings and sculptures bear witness to his versatility.
After his master craftsman's examination, he first studied architecture in Vienna and completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts at the end of the 1970s. Over the course of his life, he enthusiastically learnt many different techniques: Painting, drawing, sculpting in wood and stone, glass painting and working with ceramics.
His central themes are the observation of the landscape, people and animals as well as religious motifs. His paintings and stained glass are characterised by a great intensity of colour. As a believer, he is convinced that the Lord God gives talents and that character shapes the profession.

"For me, there has never been anything other than art.
When I'm working, I forget the time."
~ Johann Weyringer.
Holistic thinking
His working method is characterised by a comprehensive view, which is also reflected in numerous plaza designs with large sculptures. He realised the principle of the Gesamtkunstwerk in 1988 in the chapel To the Good Shepherd in Thalgauegg.
The sculpture park in front of his studio fills visitors with humility. Metre-high granite columns, such as the Trinity Column (2019-2020), support sculptural capitals made of cast bronze and aluminium.
His world hunger cannot be satisfied
The centre of his life has always been Neumarkt. Travelling to all continents - in particular to Rome, Namibia, Morocco, India, the South Pacific and Mongolia - has significantly influenced his art.

Dazzling personality
He had a special friendship with Sepp Forcher, the presenter of Sounding Austriaauthor and philosopher. At a special exhibition in the Neumarkt fortress dedicated to his friendship with Sepp Forcher, Johann Weyringer told touching anecdotes from their time together. He also described his works and thoughts on the world in a captivating way - full of inspiration, with lively gestures and passionate expression.

The artist and the Pope
Meeting Pope Benedict XVI to create a portrait was a very special event for Johann Weyringer, as religious themes play a central role in many of his works. In 2014, he created a stained glass window depicting Pope Benedict XVI for the Church of Santa Maria dell'Anima in Rome - the church of German-speaking Catholics.

Creativity for SalzburgerLand

Johann Weyringer was also involved in the area of tourism advertising. In 2016, the logo he designed for SalzburgerLand Tourismus was presented. His trademark: He writes with two hands, giving his work an unmistakable "signature". The logo is colourful, playful and unmistakable in word and image.
