In 1926, the German writer and playwright bought the Carl Zuckmayer After the National Socialist seizure of power in Germany in the early 1930s, he moved his centre of life into exile in Austria.

The Country house Wiesmühl' quickly developed into a Artists' Meeting - Zuckmayer welcomed friends and guests such as Stefan Zweig, Ödon von Horvath, Max Reinhardt, Emil Jannings, Franz Werfel and Gerhart Hauptmann. In his memoirs "Als wär's ein Stück von mir" (As if it were a piece of me), Carl Zuckmayer describes this time as his paradise. His world-famous works "Der Schinderhannes" and "Hauptmann von Köpenick" were also written here.

After starting the tour in Henndorf, you cycle via Oelling to Sighartstein, then past a small pond to Pfongau to Wertheim. Then you cycle via Steinbach and Aubach and reach the Lichtentann farm. Continue through sparse forests and via Altentann back to the starting point in Henndorf.

Worthwhile at the finish: a visit to the Literature House (note: limited opening hours) below the parish church.
